  • Today I am really missing my son so I am going to take you all on a little trip with me down memory lane. It hardly seems possible that 4 years ago today he was inducted into the USAF. He sews on his Staff Sargeant stripe this coming July, then turns 24 the following month. He graduated from basic training the week of the Fourth of July and I got this great candid photo of him during the national anthem.

When he came home on leave his 21st year he went had pictures made for his Mom in uniform. He has his Popa's smile. This one in his BDU's (Battle Dress Uniform) is my favorite:

Now he is stationed in Alaska. (a LONG way from Arkansas)  Here is a picture of the jets he works on:

I am still missing that long tall drink of water.  Ever since he has gotten grown he has loved to come up to me in public places and hug me from behind. He also likes to rest his chin on the top of my head and call me his "Little Moma." I could sure use one of those PDA's right now.

Just got off the treadmill. Funny how much faster and further you can walk when you play the right kind of  music. Today I was walking to "Praise Workout - Victory Chant" by Kim Alexis. It sure helps me keep one foot in front of the other! And it felt like I sorta had church up there on the treadmill....

Wooooooo hooooooooooo! I am wearing the dress to church this morning that was too snug through the hips just last week.

  • Ahhh missing your kids is hard.  I pray God comforts you today in that special way only He can do.  I went through a tough time last fall when my oldest went off to college.  I can't imagine them being so far away as Alaska.  Did he have to go to the middle east at all?

  • No. When his squadron went to Saudie he was one of the dozen or so they left stateside to hold down the fort. Alaska is considered over seas duty though. They go wherever the jets are so he can go TDY to anywhere in the Pacific theatre. He was in Japan over this past winter so it was our first Christmas without him. But he came home the week of my birthday in February. It had been over a year since we had seen him.

  • ahh what a great birthday present!  One of the dozen or so left stateside - sounds like God was in that wouldn't you say?  Have a great day and enjoy church!  God bless you :)

  • Thank you soooooooooo much for that comment........I almost felt selfish, until I looked into Whitey's eyes and saw how pure she was.  He heals everything!  Your son is a very handsome young man.  He is dedicated to something and at that age, whew most boy's are going to bars, etc.  He is making our World a better place.  God bless him, and I thank him.

Brief update........the baby stood for about 60 seconds this morning all by himself.  It's a good sign........Keep the prayer's coming!

    Thank you Steph

  • I bet you are so proud.... I can't imagine having your child so far away... mine is only one so I have a little while before he leaves me. He he he I can imagine you in the church on a treadmill, that's funny... I know it feels funny when you stop doing something where you are moving like that :)

  • Oh, those pictures put a lump in my throat!  He is so handsome - you must be very proud.  I am always deeply touched by the young men and women who take care of us here in America.  We are so blessed.  They sacrifice much, and so do their families.  Next time you talk to him, please thank him for me!  Bless you! Kathy

  • Your son does look an awful lot like your hubby. Very handsome men, indeed. :)

  • Awweeeeee.... That is sooo cute. I thought it was funny how your son and I both do the same thing. My mom is sooo much shorter than me so I always hug her and tell her how much I love my "little Mommy." :) I am turning 24 in August as well! I hope you have a wonderful day! God bless you! Love, Sharon

  • Mine is the 20th! :)
