MY WEEKEND
This weekend was both disappointing and rewarding. The disappointing part came Saturday when the guy who was supposed to bring us cement for our garage/patio project didn't bother to come, call, or answer when hubby tried to call him. Hubby has been working every spare minute on getting things ready and had about half a dozen guys lined up to help him. Aggravating!
So instead of pouring cement, his dad helped him change out our old propane cook stove for a smoothtop self cleaning electric one.
(I had one in Arkansas and loved how easy it was to keep clean.) Then he helped his brother work on our air conditioner. (It's nice to have a BiL who teaches heating and air at the local junior college). They got the new AC part installed and things cooling down, but turns out now we need another part to make it work to maximum efficiency.... at least we can get some cool air now.
So it was a productive day... just not in the way we had hoped. I stayed out of their way by going garage sale-ing and then visiting my MiL.
Sunday we went to a different church. Hubby and I both have been feeling spiritually dry and felt a change might give us some perspective. That evening everyone in our small group was going to be out of town, so we went back for a special evening service they were having.... Nothing but praise and worship and ministry time. The anointing was thick and it was a precious time.... I'm still basking in the Holy Spirit afterglow.
In between we lunched at our favorite Italian restaurant with hubby's brother and his family and took a nap.
On the weight loss front, I am down 10 pounds now since mid-February. I wish it would come off faster, but at least it is coming off, which is better than gaining....

I love my smooth top. Sherri has one also.
We didn't make it to Church; Ken's legs and back were hurting. I had been up the night before with Ari's legs hurting and her crying for grandma. Sherri had taken them to the Museum and then the next day to the zoo and they were worn out. They went with the cub scouts. Ari still isn't over her cold and now Dalton has it.
Didn't get as much done as I would have liked over the weekend. The wind didn't help matters. Got the front yard cut, edged, fertilized and weed eated. Ken bought a new weedeater that runs on propane tanks. It is too heavy for me to work......which is probably a good thing. Weedeaters and I don't get along. Now I have to work on the flower bed and start work on the back.
Wednesday they are coming to fix my fridge. I called and asked if they had forgot me. It had been over 3 weekis since they were here.
This Wed. night is award night for Awanas at church. Then I think Tyler is going to be baptized next Sunday.
I am watching for 3 boxes to be delivered this weeik.
Here comes my little ones. Martin and Ken got our coolers going Friday. Thank goodness.
Hope you have a good day.
Mama has a smooth top in her house, and I'm not sure I like it much. To me it takes a great deal of upkeep to keep it looking clean. Mama loved it when she could use it, and I think my sister enjoys it as well. So I must be odd!
I just hate it when businesses like your cement guy don't use proper customer service. I usually try to give the benefit of the doubt when something goes wrong, but they could have called! A lot of people were inconvienced just because of this one missed delivery!
We had a great service at church Sunday, too. Even though I was a little distracted with wedding stuff, the Lord was able to pierce through all that and speak to me. He is a patient, loving Lord!
I had a blessed Sunday too, our Pastor Jay talked about spiritual warfare and tied Nehemiah 4-6 to Ephesian 6:10-18 together in away that was totally applicable to our present day lives...like when we see division in relationships... our Enemy has been at work and it's time to pray!
I grew up with electric stovetops. I had never used a gas range until we moved into our first home. It was gas and it came with the trailer. When we bought our house (wow, almost 25yrs ago) the man worked for the gas company. Guess what we had everywhere? Gas cooktop, oven, water heater, heater and even our A/C was gas. When I replaced the appliances I went back with gas. I love my gas range, well the oven is electric but the top is gas!!! Wouldn't go back to electric, but that's my choice and that's why they have lots to choose from. Glad your A/C is on the mend and someday it will be "fully operational" (from Star Wars speaking of the Death Star!!! lol)
congrats on the weightloss!! That's more than I've lost - which isn't any! maybe being in town now for a long while will help me get some pounds off!!
So glad you didn't end up with the Swine Flu - wow!
I'm still easing back into every day life - trying to get out and golf a little and tonight I'll cook for the first time in a long time! We had a business dinner out last night, annd the night before that was Karin's birthday dinner out, so we have been eating out for almost 3 weeks non stop now. I'm actually looking forward to making hubby's favorite tonight - my taco salad - even though its our anniversary. Hubby knows I'm looking forward to a night in haha.
Yay for fixed AC! You know contractors are the WORST for keeping their word. That's a shame he blew you off. Will you use another business instead of him to get it done?
It'll be rainy rest of this week so I'll look for you online some tomorrow if you're around.
hugs and love,
RayRay
