  • FRIDAY

After literally weeks and weeks of preparation, I FINALLY got to plant my new flowerbed today.flowerforyou It is near my mailbox and takes the brunt of the sun and wind so I filled it with thornless cactus and drought tolerant succulents. It won't look like much this year, because of spacing everything based on mature growth, but in the years to come it should  look great with minimal upkeep. I used cactus hubby's Aunt gave me that looks like prickly pear, but no thorns, some wild Yucca I dug up from the pasture land beside us, some houseleak that used to be Moma's, and some low growing sedum I bought at Home Depot last weekend.

Best part is not only was it warm enough to wear shorts and a tank, to catch some rays so I don't lose my Cancun color, glasses but I burned enough calories to eat catfish with my in-laws tonight guilt free! happy

I haven't updated in awhile  because nothing new has been happening at my house lately. Since I finally got my body back to Texas time my days have been pretty much the same day in and day out.  Hard to believe this time last year we didn't know we were moving here yet....

I have been staying home and focusing on my house, a new flowerbed and losing weight. I've spent my days nesting, planning menus, preparing healthy meals, sifting through the newly tilled soil for weed and grass roots or gravel, exercising, and trying to drink my daily allotment of water. Hubby has been picking up things at the store for me so I've really had a chance to enjoy being home and focus on getting healthy and active. (The last time I took Muffin walking I wore her out and had to carry her the rest of the way home.) I started counting calories and exercising 6 weeks ago and so far have met my goal of losing at least a pound a week. Course we won't talk about that one that I gained and lost 3 times before it stayed off! Or how stiff and sore I was when I started using muscles I forgot I had again. Still miss Curves but making the best of it....

We have had more really windy days than not lately that has prevented me from making the kind of progress I'd like in my new flowerbed. So I was happy to get the music for a new slide show for Easter at church last night.... now I have something creative to do while its so windy besides think up new ways to cook chicken.
