  • ANOTHER REMODEL

    We've been busy around here remodeling my MiL's only bathroom. I have been designated the interior decorator so last week she and I made an afternoon long trip to Lowes to pick out countertop, faucets, etc. Over the holiday weekend her boys began the rip out and redo process. All my years of helping hubby with projects has paid off because I think they have sent me to the lumber yard at least once a day for incindental stuff like a plumbing fitting or tile spacers so the work didn't have to stop. So it seems I am decorator and go-fer. Lord willing, they'll finish up by the end of the month. I know my MiL is thankful to have a son living right next door. Being without a bathroom is no fun!

    Last night the guys took a break and we got together with the local kin at hubby's brother's for a Luau themed meal complete with leis and flowered attire. We have some great cooks in the family and as usual there was way too much food. It was a bit cool and windy for us grown-ups to get in the pool, but all the great nephews took their first dip of the season. At one point they even had the puppies in with them. You know you are tired (or getting old) when watching someone else having fun is entertaining.

  • My hubby also began a [small] remodel in our part of my Mama's place.  I'm just thankful he's got something to do there for awhile; I think it helps him feel more at home.  I hope y'alls remodel goes smoothly - you're so right, being without a bathroom is no fun!

  • this was a chaotic couple of months for us...while waiting for the bathroom to be redone. just make sure the guys check that the bathtub is level when installing it. our wasn't..it drained the water along the edges into the floor & had to be reinstalled! lol.

  • @ehrinn_l - No worries there. My man is such a perfectionist he builds square and level dog houses.

  • You may use my new title at work.  I'm the Girl Friday!!!  I fetch parts, make other errand stops, etc.!!!  I do book work, answer the phone, clean the toilets, sweep the floors (in the front of the shop, the back is the guys).  If they can order it, I can pick it up.  There are times when I know enough (which in and of itself is scary) that I know it isn't the right part.  Most of the time I find out it's wrong when I get back here.  There are way too many car parts for me to know what's what!!!  I still intend to make a trip to your house soon.  Problem is getting away for a me day.  Love you and think of you often.

  • Sounds like a fun time!!  and I'm sure you picked out great stuff for the bathroom!  I would enjoy that process also.  Hey this Thursday I get to pick out fabric for my kitchen window treatments! yayaya  haha

  • Nah... not tired or old... just enjoy watching. I've been like that. (Well maybe comes from being left out so much ;) )

    Dave is like that... he's the guy that just watches everything :D

  • LOL...we to sat around and watched the kids play in a pool!

  • @broncomom - If it had been warmer and the pool had been bigger I would have been in it too!
