  • SLOW AND STEADY

(drumroll) After 17 weeks of hard work I have finally moved down in to a different category on the BMI chart. I'm fighting this battle one day at a time and its happening excruciatingly slow, but at least it is happening. Hubby says when I reach my target weight he'll go with me to the beach. He's not a water person, so that's a pretty big deal. I'm hoping to pull that off by my 50th birthday. My exercise DVD is calling....

  • Great.  Keep up the good work.

I just sent you an e-mail.

Can you believe I am going to be 59 next week? Not sure where that time went. Ha. That doesn't bother me.  It is realizing that I have kids that are in their 30's and one almost 40.  Wow.

I told Ken I was thinking about turning my hair gray then I wouldn't have the shock. Ha.

It is beautiful today.  Hope you have agood day.

  • Good job!!!  I have just begun in earnest this week - I'm not doing too badly in the diet department, but exercise will be the problem for me.  I don't think I want it bad enough to go out in this 100+ heat index we have going here, and inside exercise is not really an option.  But I am working on some other alternatives, so maybe soon....

My first short term goal is to see a discernable difference by the time we go to Florida in August.  We will be helping Pamela and Will move, and I know there will be beach time involved!!

  • @pettybunch - I've been renting exercise DVDs from Netflix for strength training and walking early in the morning. I use a free calorie counting website called MyFitnessPal. You'll find the link to their site on my home page, if you're interested.

  • congratulations! i have a couple of more pounds, then i will be stepping down, too...and hopefully, down, and down, and down!

  • Yea for you!!!  Oh, BTW, I saw your front yard go past my house last night!!!  It would be funny except it was too nasty last night!!!

  • You go girl...wish you were here to exercise with me....i haven't had much help from hubby this week understandably....I haven't felt much like it either but got out there yesterday in 95 degree high humidi and walked/ran the bike path 3.5 miles...I was drenched!  I gained this week....but barely ate a thing...this introducing food again is awful...I don't want that scale to go up after i have worked so hard!  frustrating! UGH!!!!!

  • @AJGriffith - Wish we lived close enough to exercise together too! I do it all alone.  I know several folks who walk but driving 10-15 minutes to go walking seems silly when there is nothing but wide open spaces here. Maybe we should call one another and chat while we walk.  I like that idea!  We do both have the same cell phone service...

Also it is not unusual to gain after a period of not eating. It may go up a bit before it starts to go back down. That's one thing I learned counting calories. Especially if you haven't been eating enough.

You might want to direct hubby to griefshare.org. Lots of helpful things there from daily e-mails to support groups that meet weekly. Sure  helped me when I lost my parents. Speaking of parents, I'm so glad I got to meet yours!

  • oh...so you've got what?? 10 years to take the rest of it off?  you are amazing!! way to go!!  and keep it up!!  what foods did you cut?  any?  or did you just add more exercise?  blessings!!

  • @brokenbread - LOL! Ten years... what A compliment! Actually I'll turn the big 5-0 in February, which means I won't meet my goal unless I figure out some way to accelerate the process beyond a pound a week. My doctor suggested counting calories, so that is what I am doing. I only eat red meat once or twice a week and log every mouthful. Its not too bad. If I exercise, I can eat 1400 calories; if not only 1200. Sure makes you prioritize what you eat and how much!
